71 Instagram Tools to Skyrocket Your Social Media Marketing
onsdag 1 februari 2017
Art Market Mines Gold on Instagram
“Instagram has become the leading social media tool for discovering,
showing and following art, particularly for people below the age of 35,”
said Anders Petterson, an author of the Hiscox Online Art Trade Report.
Of the more than 650 art buyers questioned for the 2016 report,
48 percent said that Instagram was their preferred social media
platform. The figure rose to 65 percent among the younger buyers
contacted. “It has hit a sweet spot in the market for sharing
information,” Mr. Petterson said, “but no one saw this coming as a sales
tool.”

The
quirkily personal Instagram accounts of tastemaking specialists like
Mr. Gorvy and Mr. Carey-Williams, or of high-profile private collectors
and dealers like the Japanese billionaire Yusaku Maezawa (38,500 followers), Simon de Pury (177,000) and the art world “disrupter” Stefan Simchowitz (77,600), remain the unquantifiable “soft power” of today’s art market.
Just as difficult to gauge is the impact of the huge Instagram followings on sales at the world’s major galleries. Gagosian Gallery’s Instagram site has at least 593,000 followers, with that of Pace not far behind, at 506,000.

The Most Popular Hotels and Destinations on Instagram in 2016
With more than 500 million users worldwide — and some 75 percent of
users outside the U.S. — Instagram has become a magnet for finding trip
ideas for many travelers. Earlier this year Facebook surveyed U.S. travelers and found 38 percent of respondents got ideas for their most recent trips from Instagram, for example.

Social media ‘influencers’: A marketing experiment grows into a mini-economy
What was an experimental marketing practice only a short time ago has
morphed into a mini-economy with dizzying financial stakes. The
social-media analytics firm Captiv8 estimates that big brands are
spending a collective $255 million per month for sponsored posts on
Instagram alone. Captiv8 says Instagram influencers who have more than
7 million followers command an average rate of more than $150,000 per
sponsored post.

Influencers go to greater and greater lengths to make sure their feeds feature only the most polished aspirational imagery. For
Middledorf, that means studying Pinterest for fresh posing ideas. She
has honed tricks such as walking backward, a tactic she swears actually
appears as a more natural walk in photos. And she scouts locations ahead
of time to make sure the scenery is a fitting background for a certain
outfit.

You need Instagram to make it as a model, even if you’re Kendall Jenner
According to Forbes,
the world’s 20 highest-paid models have 200 million Instagram followers
between them, and they made a total of $154 million between 2015 and
2016. Jenner was the number-three earner, a 150-percent jump from the
prior year, pocketing $10 million from brands including Estée Lauder and
Calvin Klein. Tied was Karlie Kloss, who advertised for 18 different
brands, no doubt thanks to her 5 million-plus followers.

Instagram tests shoppable photo tags
Instagram wants you to shop without always having to interrupt your
scrolling with a browser window. That’s why today it will start showing shoppable tags on photos from 20 retail brands like Kate Spade and JackThreads to iOS users in the US.
The retailers tag products in their photos, which are hidden behind a “Tap to view products” button. After selecting their product of choice, users see an in-app details page with a specific product’s price, description, additional photos, and a “Shop Now” button to buy it on the web.
--
Eventually Instagram wants to add a “Save” feature so you can bookmark product posts as you browse and come back to them. Users aren’t always ready to buy on impulse.

The story behind the ‘Instagram of China’
Yang Liu, the founder of Fotoplace, a Shanghai-based startup comparable to Instagram.
--
Ironically, Yang Liu never wanted Fotoplace to be the Instagram of China
when it was founded in 2014. In fact, her original goal was to combine tourism and
film, not photography and film, by curating travel itineraries that
traced important scenes from different movies.
Abercrombie & Fitch clears Instagram to reintroduce itself
As part of a massive rebrand, Abercrombie & Fitch has wiped clean its Instagram account.
--
“This is a good play by Abercrombie,” said Brandwatch CMO Will
McInnes. “Sales have been slumping and it would foolish to rebrand
without its social accounts following suit.”The brand did have to make drastic moves. Amid continued slumping sales — from $4.1 billion in 2012 to $3.7 billion last year — falling foot-traffic in malls, and changing shopping habits of millennials, the brand is hoping to reposition itself to be relevant again. The rebrand also comes under the guidance of Abercrombie & Fitch’s first creative director of marketing ever, Ashley Sargent Price.

How to Build a Multimillion-Dollar Fashion Empire With a Scarf
A curious fashion item appeared on the shoulders of celebrities at
London Fashion Week a few years ago: big, chunky, furry scarves in vivid
colors. Street-style star Olivia Palermo was one of the first to don
the eye-catching scarf, and by that winter, singer Rita Ora was on
board, too. Then Vogue took notice of this cheeky new line called Charlotte Simone.
--
Perhaps it’s the attention-grabbing aspect that’s made Charlotte Simone
scarves such a darling on Instagram. Beecham runs her label’s account
herself, mixing in the everyday designer grind with glamour shots of her
scarves for her 60,000 or so followers to enjoy. It’s a major sales
driver–40 percent of online sales from its own website are driven
by Instagram. And of course, there’s the celebrity bump each time one of
her scarves is spotted wrapped around one of their valuable necks.

Meet fashion's super-influencers: the women with the power to charge £58,000 for one Instagram post
Social media following is a powerful
currency in fashion, with some estimating that brands now spend over $1
billion on sponsored Instagram posts a year. The regular fee for one
Instagram post, including a brand mention, from an influencer with 50k+
followers is a minimum of £1,000 per post. This escalates the more
followers you gain; influencers with 1.5 million followers can charge
£58,000 for just one Instagram picture and one blog post.

Uncovering the Dirty World of Instagram Spam Bots, How They Work
The basic gist behind Instagram spam bots is that they crawl around Instagram and "like" photos based on a particular hashtag, location, or username. The end goal is that the person whose photo was liked will follow back the person who liked the photo.
--
The most popular tool among the blackhat crowd is FollowLiker.
It's in high demand for a couple of reasons: you can auto-follow users
as well as auto-like images and it offers support for Tumblr, Pinterest,
and Twitter in addition to Instagram.
--
Robolike.
For under $10 per month, this tool will crawl around Instagram during a
time period you specify and like photos based on hashtags. It also
offers a 3-day free trial if you'd like to see how it works before
forking over any cash.
Finally, there's Tagliker, which is another popular spam bot.--
A few years back, Twitter filed lawsuits against 5 companies that made spam tools specific to the social site.
