YouTube might spend more on content than Netflix

YouTube is expected to generate $9 billion in gross revenue in 2015, according to Ken Sena, an analyst at investment bank Evercore ISI.
At the standard 45/55 revenue split, Alphabet paid $5 billion to its Google subsidiary's content creators in 2015.

The fact that YouTube spends more on content than Netflix shouldn't be a surprise. The streaming video site has approximately 1.3 billion monthly visitors, while Netflix only has 69 million monthly subscribers.
