In 2017, New Jersey is slated to open the American Dream Meadowlands, a
$5-billion, 91-acre project that'll house about 500 retail stores,
including Uniqlo, Lord & Taylor, and Hermès.

Part of the $20-billion Downtown Burj Khalifa development, the
1,200-shop Dubai Mall is the biggest in the world. Opened in 2008, it
took just over four years to be built. Last year, 80 million people made
their way through the sprawling, 5.9 million-square-foot complex.
