We looked at the five award shows with the most watched and talked about
red carpets — the Oscars, the Grammys, the Screen Actor Guild Awards,
the Golden Globes, and the People's Choice Awards — from the past three
years and found out what label every female celebrity wore to the event.
Looking at the past three years and the resulting sales, it appears that
red carpet appearances don't have an appreciable effect on designers'
revenue. The most difficult thing about translating this type of success
into bigger sales is that oftentimes celebrities' red carpet dresses
are one-offs or cost such an exorbitant amount of money that there may
as well only be one in existence.
